LA Wildfire Relief Efforts

Message from BSP Board Chair

fire relief event in LA community hall for brown and black people

Hello to Our Community,

As the proud Board Chair of Building Skills Partnership, it has been remarkable to watch how our staff members have stepped up to offer aid and opportunities to the workers and families affected by the LA wildfires. SEIU-USWW in collaboration with BSP has launched humanitarian relief efforts to provide immediate aid to these essential workers and their families impacted by the fires.

At a wildfire relief event hosted in LA last week, SEIU-USWW and BSP offered food, clothing, blankets, and essential items to workers and families. Workers were also connected with representatives who began leading them through the process of finding another job, securing housing accommodations, and coordinating FEMA monetary relief. We were intent on offering a spirit of hope to all.

We are deeply grateful to our incredible community partners for stepping up during a time of crisis and providing essential items for families. Their generosity and commitment to supporting those in need exemplifies the power of community action.

A heartfelt thank you to Congressman Jimmy Gomez, Labor Community Services, Corrissa P. Hernandez, Assemblymember Mark Gonalez, Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez, Fearless Church LA, and The Wall Las Memorias for their unwavering support and contributions.

As a time for us to come together as a community and show our gratitude and compassion for the people we serve, please help us stand with these resilient families as they begin the long journey to recovery. Together, we can restore hope and rebuild lives.

In Gratitude,

Janna Shadduck-Hernadez
