LA Holiday Toy Event 2021!
BSP joined partner, SEIU-USWW for a toy drive event that served hundreds of families in the LA community. Thanks to generous supporters, hundreds of children were able to browse a wide collection of toys and select the one that they wanted at no charge to celebrate the holiday season!
Participants enjoyed a day of festivities, including free food, drinks, pastries and family entertainment. Several donated bikes were raffled off to children throughout the day and a dance party contest was held for kids! Attendees also visited the BSP event booth, offering information on our educational programs and opportunities which serve workers in low-wage industries and their families.
Special event guests included esteemed elected officials and David Huerta, President of SEIU-USWW; who addressed attendees, commending their hard work, commitment to their families and also wished them a happy holiday season. The event paid tribute to Ana Castro, a SEIU-USWW executive who tirelessly worked for the union and its members for decades. She was a janitor leader and also enjoyed bringing annual events like the holiday toy to life each year.
A list of the elected officials who celebrated union member attendees and also gave well-wishes to Ana Castro in her retirement included:
