Koreatown Youth + Community Center

Koreatown Youth + Community Center

Building Skills Partnership’s Financial Capabilities programs offer training and coaching to help frontline, property service workers meet their financial goals and achieve economic stability.

The success of these programs is deepened through collaborations with industry partners and supporters.

Through the ongoing support of the Koreatown Youth + Community Center, BSP’s Financial Capabilities programs have expanded throughout Los Angeles.

KYCC’s programs and services are directed toward recently immigrated, economically disadvantaged youth and families, and promote community socioeconomic empowerment.

In this programmatic growth, BSP Financial Literacy Coordinators have been able to provide financial classes, coaching, and services to workers from low-wage industries and their families.

BSP also offers qualifying participants free tax preparation services. As an accredited VITA site, BSP can file taxes, ITIN applications and renewals, assist with the creation of payment plans, and educate around ways to save refunds, free of charge. BSP serves over 300 people annually in LA alone.

Small business seminar in LA

Within the communities served, finances can sometimes be an uncomfortable topic to bring up, so BSP staff members use teaching sessions to broaden the community’s knowledge of the financial system and have deepened conversations about finances.

Through the support of KYCC, BSP has also hosted small business workshops. The topics included:

  • 10 Business Ideas to Start with Little Funding

  • 10 Essential Steps for Small Businesses

  • Financial Empowerment

Financial freedom can be gained and passed on from generation to generation. These programs seek to build & expand participants’ financial wealth.

Thank you to KYCC for their generous support and partnership, making these impactful programs possible!
