Felissa Bacca Bernal recently immigrated from Colombia to the United States and not long ago became a new member of SEIU-USWW. As a benefit to members, she began participating in BSP’s Digital Literacy and ESL classes in the summer of 2024. Felissa mentioned it is her first time interacting with and receiving hands-on support from an organization like BSP. She appreciated how well-organized the BSP team was and the quality of the organization's services.

BSP's Digital Literacy programs offer opportunities for individuals to access tech devices, such as Chromebooks and laptops in order to help with their digital knowledge acquisition.

Felissa shared, "The first time I called the BSP hotline number, the person who answered my call was very attentive and helped me enroll in the classes I wanted. What was most surprising was that they asked me what I would need to be successful in the classes. For example, they offered to loan me a computer to improve my learning experience. In the in-person classes, the coordinator Cecilia is always available whenever I have a question, and she provides new information in each class."

Felissa feels that BSP is a very good organization because, in addition to offering services, BSP provided materials to help students succeed in their classes. This level of support was surprising to her, as she noted that it is often difficult to find this level of help in organizations offering free services.

A sincere thank you to the Chan Zuckerberg Institute, Google, Hispanic Federation and Sobrato Philanthropies for making these impactful programs possible.
