LAX Core Program Components:

Emergency Preparedness Training
BSP believes that passenger service workers, who serve as the frontline to the public and guests at the airport, have the potential to play a role during emergencies through proper education and training. BSP designed a passenger service worker Emergency Preparedness Training program for LAX to address the rising concerns of various emergencies and incidents that have occurred at airports worldwide.

Career Pathways & College Access

After an initial workforce survey conducted, BSP found that 50% of airport passenger service workers had some college credit,
only 10% of those workers successfully completed a 2-year degree, and 40% reported successful graduation from high school
with no college experience. BSP is expanding continued education training for airport workers in partnership with community
colleges with a special focus on college aviation career certification opportunities.

Aviation Programs

As a part of BSP's Career Pathways & College Access initiatives, BSP created an educational pathway to a career in the
aviation industry! In the fall of 2023, BSP and SEIU-USWW in collaboration with West Los Angeles College, held on-site
classes that were free for SEIU-USWW Airport Service workers. 45 workers enrolled in the 32-hour courses.

Leadership Development & Peer-To-Peer Training

An industry career lattice is a flexible plan to support employee training, upskilling, and certification on multiple
pathways, responsive to the needs of industries and the economy. BSP’s Peer Trainer program selects capable
workers who mentor colleagues during the on-the-job training to support them in evolving to future managerial
positions.

Infectious Disease Certification

BSP created the Infectious Disease Certification Program that equips property service workers with the knowledge to protect their own health and safety and that of building occupants. The comprehensive certification program recognizes the need for continuous training and upskilling of workers in the property service industry.

Financial Capabilities

BSP collaborates with LAX workers and their families to help them gain self-efficacy regarding their finances by providing
financial coaching to workers, both individually and through workshops.

Parent University

BSP’s Parent University initiatives aim to break the cycle of poverty through guidance on navigating the educational
system, childhood enrichment opportunities and scholarships. BSP organizes workshops, trainings, and university visits
geared towards informing workers about how they can become involved in their children’s education to help make their
college dreams a reality.

High Road Training Partnerships are supported by the California Workforce Development Board
(CWDB) in coordination with the Labor and Workforce Development Agency with various state
fund allocations annually.
