WLAC Career Fair and Campus Tour

BSP students recently had the opportunity to step onto the campus of West Los Angeles College (WLAC) for a day that blended inspiration, exploration, and hands-on learning. The visit was part of BSP’s Family Engagement and College Readiness (FECR) program, which connects students with real-world educational and career experiences to help them plan for a successful future.

The day began with WLAC’s Career Fair, where students met directly with employers, industry representatives, and program leaders. These conversations gave participants a clearer picture of the skills and training needed for various professions—and the diverse career paths available to them.

Following the Career Fair, students took part in a guided campus tour, walking through classrooms, student resource centers, and common spaces that make up the daily college experience. For many, it was their first time visiting a college campus, and seeing the environment firsthand made higher education feel both tangible and attainable.

Throughout the day, BSP participants learned about WLAC’s academic programs, financial aid resources, and support services that can help them succeed in their educational journey. They also had time to connect with one another, share goals, and reflect on how their career aspirations align with their academic choices.

By the end of the visit, students left feeling motivated and better prepared to take their next steps—whether that’s enrolling in college, applying for internships, or exploring training opportunities.

Opportunities like the WLAC Career Fair and campus tour are a powerful reminder that exposure leads to empowerment. By providing experiences that connect education to real career opportunities, FECR helps students and their families envision a future filled with possibility—and gives them the tools to get there.
