Tax Assistance - VITA 2025
BSP is at it again this year! BSP has kicked off a successful launch of the VITA tax assistance program for 2025. BSP is continuing to serve union members in assisting them with free tax preparation.
BSP's Financial Capabilities programs offer training and coaching to help property service workers meet their financial goals and achieve economic stability. BSP also offers qualifying participants free tax preparation services.
As an accredited VITA site, BSP can file taxes, ITIN applications and renewals, assist with the creation of payment plans, and educate around ways to save refunds, free of charge.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is essential in serving the community by providing free, reliable tax preparation services to low-to-moderate-income individuals, ensuring they maximize their refunds and claim valuable tax credits like the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).
VITA helps the community in four key ways:
It ensures accurate tax filings, reducing errors and the risk of audits
It saves individuals money that would otherwise be spent on paid tax preparation
It helps taxpayers access crucial tax credits that boost financial stability
It promotes financial literacy by educating individuals on tax-related matters
The success of VITA heavily depends on dedicated volunteers who give their time and expertise to assist taxpayers. Without volunteers, the program could not reach as many individuals in need, making their role vital in providing equitable access to tax services and fostering economic empowerment in the community. Furthermore, It connects people to additional services to build financial health and stability.
What makes VITA unique is the holistic approach it takes to help combat poverty and empower community members to take control of their finances.
