LA entertainment studios carry BSP programs for frontline workers
BSP is proud to announce that 50 property service workers at major entertainment studios in Los Angeles graduated and became certified through BSP’s innovative Green Janitor Education Forward Program!
The frontline ABM janitorial workers from NBC Universal and Dreamworks workers engaged in BSP’s industry-leading GJEP Forward curriculum, which address energy efficiency, recycling, waste management, water conservation and other sustainable and green cleaning practices.
Together with BSP, SEIU-USWW, ABM, and NBC Universal and Dreamworks are exemplary leaders of labor-management partnerships that facilitate a career lattice to support employee training, upskilling, and certification; while being responsive to the needs of industries, the economy, and the employees.
BSP is grateful to these partners for offering GJEP certification to their workers!
BSP developed the Green Janitor Education Program (GJEP) in 2014. The program is a qualified USGBC program through which janitors are accredited in green building cleaning practices to help meet the latest energy, water, and environmental sustainability standards.
After completion of the GJEP curriculum, workers are able to move to the next phase of certification, GJEP Forward which allows workers to evolve their knowledge & skills in green initiatives.
GJEP Forward goals for property service workers include:
Think critically about their role in sustainability and green buildings
Learn and discuss widely believed cleaning myths and debunk those with scientific facts and explanations
Develop their leadership skills at the workplace and in their communities by emphasizing their essential role in supporting green and sustainable efforts.
Implement actionable strategies to become advocates for green cleaning and resource conservation at work and at home
Through these programs, janitors, as frontline workers, learn that they contribute to energy reduction and water consumption; and ultimately, human health through their work.
Since launching, BSP's Green Janitor Education Programs (GJEP 1.0 and Forward) have certified over 1,800 property service workers in California!
BSP’s high-road programs are part of the California Workforce Development Board’s High Road Training Partnership, which is funded through California Climate Investments, a statewide initiative that puts Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy, and improving public health, and the environment — particularly in disadvantaged communities.
