2023 Mike Garcia Scholarship Gala

On October 5th 2023, Building Skills Partnership will host the 2023 Mike Garcia Scholarship gala. Our objective is to provide 80 children from low-wage families scholarships to help make college a reality. Our goal is to raise $80,000 to help first-generation college students overcome barriers to succeed in education.

With the support of people like you, hundreds of scholarships to college-going students from low-wage families have been provided through the Mike Garcia Scholarship for a total of $400,000 in awards throughout the years.

An example of Mike Garcia Scholarship success Alejandra Zamora, a 2022 graduate of UC Berkeley with a degree in political science and a four -time recipient of the scholarship. Now a law student at UC Berkeley, Alejandra’s goal is to become an immigration lawyer and serve her community. Alejandra “thanks BSP and Mike Garcia Scholarship donors because their efforts not only help students, but also their families.”

There is a greater need than ever to help students like Alejandra. With the rising cost of education and diminishing public funding, college scholarships become even more critical.
