Airports and New Divisions

Airports and New Divisions Program

BSP offers language acquisition and professional & leadership development programs to property and passenger service workers throughout California. BSP’s language curriculum is tailored to fit the needs of workers in the aviation and security industries.

With feedback from LAX workers in Emergency Preparedness Training, BSP created a “Spanish for Airport workers” course to provide an aviation-specific Spanish curriculum for English speakers. With the success of this course, another language class “Spanish for Security” was created. In a growing multicultural, and multilingual economy, occupational Spanish is a growing interest for English speakers.

BSP’s Airports & New Divisions language programs also offers online/in-person American Sign Language workshops and classes. This course was created for workers and their families in janitorial, airport, and new divisions who encounter ASL-users on a semi-regular basis, or work with deaf or hard-of-hearing colleagues. Participants shared that this program was helpful in facilitating accessible modes of communication through an engaging and easy-to-follow curriculum.
